Do you or your kids know how to sew on a button or mend a ripped hem on your skirt?

Spring Break 2020 (COVID-19 shutdown time) is the perfect time to learn to sew, thread needle, hem a skirt.

Well, this may be a good time to stop putting off learning this basic skill. Plan to learn to sew this Spring Break, Summer vacation or Winter Break. How about after school instead of mindless vegging out with video games?

Defense Department-run schools overseas have canceled classes, activities to protect students from COVID-19 exposure.

Children of U.S. military personnel living in South Korea, Japan, Italy, Bahrain and elsewhere are beginning to experience the disruption of routine caused by the burgeoning worldwide COVID-19 outbreak.

In Asia, Europe and the Middle East, 15 Department of Defense Education Activity schools are closed and extracurricular activities canceled, affecting roughly 7,500 students.

The decisions to shutter the facilities through at least Friday were made out of an “abundance of caution” to prevent exposure, according to a letter sent to parents of students in the Department of Defense Education Activity Pacific Region.

Six years ago I taught my 11-year-old granddaughter to sew so simple embroidery stitches. She plans on being a surgeon one day. She has a head start on those stitching skills.
