But My Kids Will Get Upset Without a Cell Phone!
Do you have concerns about electronics addiction with their tech devices?
How can we talk to our kids about spending family time together?
What do you mean games on my cell phone are not a good babysitter for a two-year-old? I’m trying to get work done!
What do psychologists have to say about the essentials for our brains to develop?
How can we get our family unplugged from so many devices?
What if I don’t know how to play any games?
What does POS mean? Are kids talking in secret code?
Good News! This book has an entire section filled with facts that grown-ups can use, such as, how to make healthy changes while avoiding the screaming resistance; challenges of changes; what to say other than, “Good boy,” or “Good girl,”.
There is also a section that parents may not want to read about taking responsibility for their own unhealthy cell phone/electronic habits have affected your children’s emotional reactions. Trust me with I tell you that initially some of my tip will be like fingernails across a blackboard.
Free Tip: “Remember, you can’t change others’ behavior, only your own.”
This author has a confession to make. I did not make up the above tip. I learned that in parenting class and hated it! “Yeah, but my kid does this. You don’t understand.”
Forty to fifty years ago, I was guilty of annoying my children when I was on the phone. Thanks to a parenting magazine, I figured out what I needed to do to undo the behavior that occurred only when I was on the phone with the coiled cords that plugged into the wall. There was a plot twist in the family dynamics every time I used the phone that I had not realized. It turns out that I was the one who had trained my children to theoretically “salivate like Pavlov’s dogs every time the phone ran.”
What do you think about that? Can you relate?
Below is a sneak peek at the partial outline.
